ADVANTEC AS continues its growth and opens a new office in Stavanger, the oil & gas capital of Norway. ADVANTEC has a relatively brief corporate history, being established as an independent technology & service company following a buy-out of the Department of Competence & Service in 2005, from Aker Kværner Elektro (now Aker Solutions). The company has grown steadily since, from its origin of 19 engineers and technicians, to the present 120 employees (Sept. 2009). An acquisition of a majority share in the electrical contractor Grov Elektro AS means that 20 certified electricians and engineers joined the Advantec Group in August 2009.

The new Stavanger office is established at Kvaernevik Ring 177, 4048 HAFRSFJORD, and is headed by Dept. Manager Armand Svendsen.

He has been with ADVANTEC for 3 years, and has a wide experience within subsea control systems, engineering & and operations, and operation of seismic vessels and equipment in the global exploration market.

Though ADVANTEC as an entity does not have a long history, its management team brings with it around 30 years of experience from oil & gas projects; mainly within advanced electrical & instrumentation projects, covering engineering, installation, mechanical completion (MC), commissioning, start-up and operation of complex onshore and offshore installations.

ADVANTEC has also established itself as a reliable supplier of technology products for many applications for the global oil & gas market, including;

• Integrated WOCS (Workover Control Systems) including electro hydraulic control containers, workover reels and umbilicals, sheaves, transport baskets and UDS (Umbilical Disconnect Systems)
• Well Control Systems, including Chemical Injection Modules and Production HPU (Hydraulic Power Units) for subsea production wells.
• Wireline control equipment
• Diesel Electrical HPUs
• Electronic Control Systems with software development of application software and operator interfaces (HMI Screens)

The new Stavanger office will promote ADVANTEC’s products and services to new and existing clients, and provides aftermarket support and service for the many product deliveries to major clients in the Stavanger area.

ADVANTEC also provides design and engineering services to operators and contracting companies in Stavanger, be it frame agreements, or short term assignments. The company has a large rental and calibration service, and these services will be available through the new Stavanger facilities.

ADVANTEC is ISO-9001:2000 certified, holds licenses for certification of electrical equipment for hazardous areas (Ex equipment), is certified to the PED (Pressure Equipment Directive) Module H, and is certified within Achilles and FPAL.
